La Palma is one of the smaller islands that the Canary Islands has to offer, measuring 708 km squared and with a population of just over 85,000. It’s the most North-Westerly of the islands too, and is also one of the more quiet holiday destinations for tourists – although there’s no real reason why, as you’ll soon find out.

As someone looking for an adventure holiday then you’re going to be spoilt for choice here – from hiking to paragliding, surfing to rock-climbing, there isn’t too much that you can’t do on the island of La Palma.

Being a highly volcanic region (2nd after Tenerife out of the Canary Islands), La Palma’s base lies almost 4,000m below sea level and reaches a height of 2,400m above sea level. Lots has been said about whether a new volcanic erruption could be due, and also about the chances of a Tsunami occuring on the island due to some of its history.

Out of all of the Canary Isles, La Palma has a more mild and predictable subtropical climate with average highs in winter of 21 degrees and 27 degrees in summer, making it another possible Winter holiday destination for those looking to travel from the UK.

The climate varies greatly from place-to-place on the island, and you’ll find a cooler climate towards the more mountanious parts of La Palma.

Despite it’s relatively small size you won’t struggle to find lovely places to stay during your trip to La Palma. There are also direct flights from the UK to make travelling much easier than to most of the smaller Canary Isles.
