The name itself says it all, the Costa del Silencio. Although just a short distance from of Los Cristianos and Las Américas, it could in fact be another world far flung from the hustle and bustle of these busy resorts. Peace and quiet do indeed reign along this part of the coast.

In the past, doing justice to the name, the inhabitants of this area went about their farming and fishing which is all there was to do. However, the advantages and the income from tourism soon became apparent. That said, they were unwilling to sacrifice open spaces to concrete and thus holiday-makers choosing to stay at Costa del Silencio practice a range of activities linked to nature and relax in the unpolluted air blowing in from the Atlantic ocean.

Walking through the picturesque streets is a delight, especially if you make a stop at one of the restaurants or bars to chat with the friendly people. Here, simple gastronomical pleasures are to be found whether you order just a plain, freshly made roll or treat yourself to a time-honoured meat stew or a serving of fish straight out of the sea.

So, if you want to get away from the crowds for a while why not spend the day here, strolling or swimming in the crystal clear waters? If you haven’t rented a car, the twenty-minute ride from Los Cristianos and Las Américas can be made by taxi or bus. You won’t regret it, that’s for sure.
