It was the most eagerly awaited night in the history of Tenerife's clubland, and when Jeremy Healy finally took to the decks at Tramps, he did not disappoint.

Over as part of the Mezzanine tour alongside Dave Lee, this was Healy's FIRST time to grace the island. Looking tanned and relaxed, it was hard to imagine that the world class DJ had the same day performed his current chart hit 'Bleachin' on TOTP's.

Healy arrived in Tenerife in the early hours of the morning and was immediately whisked away to Tramps to start a two-hour set that was, quiet simply, f*cking amazing. This man is a demon on the decks - a lean mean mixing machine! And the crowd just couldn't get enough of him.

Tramps was packed out with party people who were clambering to get close to the DJ box. But Healy took it all in his stride and produced an effortless set of tune after tune.

The ex-Haysi Fantasee singer has come along way since his dread locked days in the eighties. He started DJing at The Circus in London whilst establishing himself as one of the UK's finest jingle producers, working on many TV and cinema commercials. But it was his Djing career that would elevate him to superstar status, earning him the title of the UK's most flamboyant and talented steel spinners.

He's pure entertainment behind the decks - dancing along with the crowd and generally having a wicked time. His legendary 'party animal' personality really showed throughout his set and he's one of the most energetic DJ's I have seen play. He was once quoted a saying "Fuck this underground, over ground thing. There's good music and there's bad music and that's it", and this shows in his set. He is not afraid to mix it up and basically have fun.

Straight after his set at Tramps, Healy went on to Ibiza where he is resident at Clockwork Orange and Gatecrasher. With his album with fellow collaborator Amos 'Bleachin', riding high in the charts and his club Area in Croydon jamming them in every week, it seems that Jeremy Healy is at the pinnacle of his career. And we were more than lucky to get him here for a set... even if it was only for a short while. Well done to the Tramp's team on producing a wicked night... and to Jeremy Healy, we salute you!
